RAF SIMONS A/W 99
"Disorder. Incubation. Isolation."
Raf Simons A/W 1999–2000, “Disorder—Incubation—Isolation,” explored alienated youth, psychological withdrawal, and rebellion through a stark, almost ceremonial aesthetic. The show opened with teenagers carrying black flags bearing the collection’s three words also referencing Joy Division—before moving through black capes, ceremonial clothing, sharply constructed silhouettes, and later grey tailoring. The collection contrasts the past and the future, order and disorder, and isolation and collective identity.
